THIS IS A VERY SPECIAL TWOFER WEEK FOR THE LOS GATOS SOCIAL CLUB.
First, this Wednesday following our regular cocktails @6:30pm @45 Broadway
we will be dining at Travese. Located in the much heralded Coggeshall
Mansion (owned by club members ROBIN & GRANT SEDGWICK) on North Santa Cruz
Avenue, the mansion formerly housed The Chart House and, before that, the
Place Funeral Parlor. Executive chef/partner MICHAEL MILLER promises us a
meal to die for!
Since Michael will be doing such a great job for us, be sure to bring a
bottle of wine to match the occasion
Second, next Sunday, May 18th @4pm, Teri Hope will be hosting our first ever
Cajun Bash, described below:
"The Los Gatos Social Club visits Magnolia Manor, the beautiful home of TERI
HOPE. Step aboard that Streetcar Named Desire and trolley yourself on over
to Magnolia Manor for a sultry southern style soiree. Enjoy Mint Juleps,
Hurricanes, and other libations on the Veranda. You'll get your enjoys from
Creole style food including spicy Cajun craw fish fresh from the Louisiana
Gulf Coast and fresh shucked oysters from Big Chief "Bill the Oyster Man" &
Lil' Miss Trina King. N'Orleans style jazz & blues music will be provided
thanks to Jay Meduri & The Poor House Bistro. So put on your big brimmed
hats, white linen suits and chiffon dresses, and stroll on over for some
real southern style hospitality."
The dress for Teri's party is "FUN"; and feel free to bring her some nice
wine or some other creative hostess gift.
OTHER NEWS:
LOS GATOS IS GOING TO THE DOGS...this in no small part due to some behind
the dog house dealings of our Grand Poobah.
A special thanks to all the Social Club members who attended the May 5 Town
Council meeting. Our beloved Mayor issued a proclamation declaring that on
May 17th our town will change its name to "Los Perros" for a day (Click here
to see the ceremony http://www.worldadventure.com/winnie). It was indeed
fitting that the representative from the perros community of Los Gatos,
Winnie, belongs to our very own Kelly and Jonathan Knowles (see photos
below). Be sure and bring your pooch to the Old Town Shopping Center this
Saturday at 11:00am and join the fun as the town of the cats goes to the
dogs.
As I mentioned last week in a previous plug for this event, should you not
have a dog, please feel free to bring your significant other.
Best regards,
Peter
PS: JOKE OF THE WEEK
David and Linda were patients in a mental hospital. One day while they were
walking past the hospital swimming pool, David suddenly jumped into the deep
end, sank to the bottom, and stayed there.
Linda promptly jumped in, swam to the bottom, and pulled David out.
When the hospital director learned of Linda's heroic act, he ordered her to
be discharged from the hospital, as he nowconsidered her to be mentally
stable.
When the director went to tell Linda, he said, "Linda, I have good news and
bad news. The good news is you're being discharged. Since you were able to
rationally respond to a crisis by jumping in and saving the life of another
patient, I have concluded that you are of sound mind. The bad news is that
Jim, the patient you saved, hung himself in the bathroom with his bathrobe
belt right after you saved him. I am so sorry, but he's dead."
Linda replied, "He didn't hang himself, I hung him up in there to dry. How
soon can I go home?"
