We all really packed the social calendars last week her in Los Gatos! As a matter of fact, because of so many requests for their presence at town social functions, Dennise and Peter's internet service went down. The technicians tell us that the wires literally melted due to the unprecedented number of incoming email requests. I have been asked to send out this week's newsletter while high capacity fiber optics are being installed at the Carter home.
Thanks to all that attended the Got Art? exhibit at 24 North Santa Cruz last Thursday. Our own Larry and David have donated the use of this prime space this summer for showings by local artists. Thanks guys! Be certain you stop by and take a look.
A fabulous time was had by members of The Los Gatos Social Club who joined in the fun @45 Broadway last week. The tacos were in fact the world's best, the Tequila on hand rivaled any collection known to humankind, and the guacamole flowed like a divine river of nectar. A HUGE thank you to Dennise and Peter for hosting (this word doesn't even begin to describe all that they did for us) this spectacular event. We have the photos to prove that most of you were having the time of your life. Check them out here.
This year's 1st Place winner of the Best Guacamole Contest was the lovely Colleen Willcox. We are not surprised by this. When Colleen sets her mind to something you can rest assured it will be the best-- wether making guac or dancing the Flamenco. Brava Colleen! Congratulations on a well deserved victory. Our judges, through a blind tasting process, selected the following champions as well.
2nd Place - Michael "maracas agradables" Kilkenny
3rd Place - Tom "caliente" Spillsbury
Honorable Mention- Dalye "atrevimiento" Bryant
Honorable Mention - Joan "el artista "Smith
These five will be our judges next year. Start planning now folks, this is serious business. Keep in mind that only a point or two separated most of the winning entries.
IMPORTANT NEWS FOR THIS WEEK
We will NOT be gathering this Thursday, July 3rd, due to the July 4th holiday on Friday. We hope to see you at the Town of Los Gatos 4th of July celebration at the Civic Center from 11:00am to 7:30pm. Click HERE for details.
We WILL gather for Jazz on the Plazz this week on Wednesday July 2nd. We had a wonderful time last week at the opening Jazz concert. Teri Hope, Joan Perry, and Michael Jocoby have put together an incredible music series this year that you simply must not miss. If you wish to sit with the cool cats, drop off your chairs NO LATER THAN 3:00pm Wednesday at the back of the park by the redwood grove. The music starts at 6:30. Bring a bottle of wine, sit back, and enjoy the good life with good friends in our beautiful town.
Our next Thursday gathering will be at Glynne's new place on Thursday July 10th. Look for an email from Peter next week with details.
As always, our club calendar can be found at http://www.losgatossocialclub.org/2008calendar.
Warmest regards,
jonathan
